Electroplated Tools for Glass Machining

Glass, a major component of which is silica, is an extremely tough material to machine. Grinding glass can be efficiently done only using diamond tipped tools. While diamond routers can be used for embellishing decorative edges in tables etc., diamond electrodeposited bevel wheels are also often used to bevel the edges of glass table tops. Apart from these applications, diamond electrodeposited wheels are also often used for grinding glass lenses used in spectacles. Profiled wheels such as the one shown above right are typically manufactured in fine diamond grit sizes to machine the glass used for wristwatches. 

Manufactured using tough synthetic diamond, these tools are engineered to withstand the extreme abrasive action of silica that makes it difficult to machine glass using conventional tools.
